Four generous 45 cm napkins in stonewashed flax — big enough to actually cover a lap and dry a pair of hands, not the token square that folds prettily and does nothing. Linen lifts a spill and a smear better than cotton and gets softer every time you wash it.
European flax, stonewashed before it's cut and hemmed so it comes to you already broken-in and pre-shrunk, in the natural undyed flax colour. A simple mitred hem, nothing fussy.
Natural flax creases, and these will show the folds of the meal — that's the character of the cloth, not a fault in it. If you want them flat, press them damp; if you don't mind a lived-in look, use them as they come.
