A stoneware crock that keeps a loaf the way bread actually wants to be kept — the heavy opaque body holds a steady, cool dark, and the lid carries small vents that let just enough air move to hold off the mould a fully sealed box breeds. A crusty loaf keeps its crust for days rather than going soft overnight.
Sage matte glaze over vitrified stoneware, high-fired in oxidation, bare clay underfoot. Big enough for a large sourdough or a couple of smaller loaves, and good-looking enough to leave out on the counter.
Those same vents mean it isn't airtight, so soft sliced bread in a plastic bag will stale a little faster in here than sealed in its wrapper. The crock is built for crusty bread that breathes, not for keeping a supermarket loaf soft.
