Sage matte glaze over vitrified stoneware, high-fired in oxidation, the bare clay foot left unglazed. The opaque body keeps light off what's inside, which suits coffee and spices better than a clear glass jar does.
Because the stoneware is opaque, you can't see the level at a glance — you'll lift the lid to check whether the flour's running low. That's the trade for keeping light out.
