European oak in edge-grain construction, finished with the same re-oilable hardwax oil as the large board. Edge grain is a touch firmer under the knife than end grain and keeps the board slim and light.
Being lighter, it can travel on a wet worktop as you cut. A damp cloth laid under it settles it in place — worth the second it takes.
